How many wineries are in Kelowna?
There are more than 40 wineries in the greater Kelowna wine area, including wineries in Kelowna, East Kelowna, Lake Country and West Kelowna. The exact number depends on how the area is defined and which wineries are currently operating, but there is a large concentration of wineries within a relatively short drive of downtown Kelowna.
For visitors, the more important question is often which wine region you want to explore. Kelowna’s wine country is spread across several areas, each with a different character and collection of wineries.
Where Are the Wineries Around Kelowna?
- East Kelowna — A rural wine area southeast of the city with vineyards, orchards and a mix of smaller and established wineries.
- West Kelowna — Home to the Westside Wine Trail, one of the Okanagan’s best-known wine areas, with numerous wineries overlooking Okanagan Lake.
- Lake Country — North of Kelowna, this area has its own collection of wineries and scenic vineyard routes.
- Kelowna and the Lakeshore — Wineries and tasting experiences can also be found closer to the city and along the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake.
Can You Visit Several Kelowna Wineries in One Day?
Absolutely. The concentration of wineries makes it possible to visit several in one day, but the wineries are spread across a fairly large area. Trying to visit wineries in East Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country on the same day can involve considerably more driving than staying within one wine region.
For a self-guided day, choosing one area and building a route around it usually makes more sense. The Self Guided Tour Planner can help you organize a route and choose wineries that work together geographically.
